Height: 60 feet
Trail Type: Dirt
Hike Distance: 2 miles round trip
Difficulty: 3
Beauty: 7
Overview:
Station Cove Falls is a nice 60-foot cascade that drops over several mini rock ledges in individual streams before collecting at the base and continuing on its way. You can get right up next to the falls here, and the shallow pool makes a great spot for small kids to play.
Directions:
From the intersection of SC highway 11 and SC highway 28 in Walhalla, head north on SC 11 for 6.2 miles and bear left onto Oconee Station Road. The parking area for the trailhead is 2.4 miles down the road on the left. If you’re feeling extra adventurous and want to add some history to your hike, you can turn right at the sign for the Oconee Station Historic Site.
Hike Description:
The hike is mostly level and quite wide all the way to the falls. The trail is clearly marked and intersects with a larger trail inside Oconee State Park near the falls. You’ll need to rock hop across the creek to get closer, but the creek is rarely high enough to cause any problems.
