Height: 30 feet
Trail Type: Dirt
Hike Distance: 1.1 miles round trip
Difficulty: 9
Beauty: 9
Overview:
Eternal Flame Falls might be the most unique waterfall you’ll see because of the natural gas seep that originates over 1,000 feet below the surface. Because the gas is coming from a small grotto, it can be lit, producing a flame behind the water.
Directions:
From US 219 south of Buffalo, take the exit for NY 391 south. Turn left onto NY 277 and drive a little over 2 miles to Chestnut Ridge Park on the left.
Hike Description:
The trail follows the ridge line above the falls for the first half before switching back and sending you along the creek bank with a couple of potential crossings depending on what condition the trail is in.
