Overview:
Cascade Falls is unique in that it’s a sort of black water falls. Because of its proximity to the coast, a lot of the tannins in the trees seep into the water, turning in a darker brown/orange. However, the town of Saco has done a lot of work to the area to make this a nice little park.
Directions:
From the intersection of US 1 and ME 98 north of Saco, drive .4 miles on ME 98 to the parking area on the left.
Hike Description:
There are several trails in the park, but the quickest way to the falls is to take the right trail when it forks just past the parking area. From there, follow the white/light blue blazes down the ridge to the falls.
