Tom Branch Falls

Height: 75 feet
Trail Type: Dirt
Hike Distance: 0.24 miles
Difficulty: 1
Beauty: 8

Overview:

Tom Branch Falls is the first of three waterfalls along the trail at Deep Creek north of Bryson City. It’s listed at 75 feet, but you likely won’t be able to see all of it unless you go in the winter. By spring, the leaves on the trees hang over the upper portion of the falls.

What makes Tom Branch Falls wonderful is the fact that is appears out of nowhere and cascades gently into Deep Creek. Add in hordes of tubers floating down the creek, and you’ve got a nice, unique little spot.

Directions:

From the intersection of US 19 and Everett Street in Bryson City, head into downtown and bear right onto Water Street after 0.3 mile. You can also follow a series of signs for Deep Creek that zigzag through town. Follow Water Street until it ends at Deep Creek Road. Turn left and follow that road to the parking area.

Hike Description:

The Deep Creek Trail begins at the end of the parking lot and follows Deep Creek on a level path to the falls.
