Silver Run Falls

Height: 40 feet
Trail Type: Dirt
Hike Distance: A few hundred yards
Difficulty: 3
Beauty: 8

Overview:

Silver Run Falls was one of the first falls I ever fell in love with. The entire area around the falls makes you feel like you’ve been transported to a tropical country. The pool at the base of the falls is deep enough to swim in and is big enough for dozens of people. The falls jump off the ledge into a short free fall before sliding down a relatively smooth rock face into the pool.

Directions:

From the intersection of US 64 and NC highway 107 in Cashiers, drive south on 107 for 4 miles to the parking area for the trail on the left.

Hike Description:

The trail descends somewhat moderately down the bank before leveling out and crossing the early portions of the Whitewater River (which eventually leads to Whitewater Falls). From there, it’s a short distance to the falls where you’ll have several different angles to view the falls. The most convenient will be on the left side where you can get up close to the base. You can also rock hop across the creek for a frontal view.
