Barnett Branch Falls

Height: 30 feet
Trail Type: Dirt
Hike Distance: 1 mile round trip
Difficulty: 3
Beauty: 7

Overview:

Barnett Branch Falls is a little known gem on the northern end of the US 276 corridor. The trail is relatively easy, too, so it would make a great family outing. The creek could dry up in the summer, so it’s best to visit in the early spring. The nice thing about Barnett Branch Falls is that you can get right up next to it and see the character of the rock and the moss all around the falls.

Directions:

From the intersection of US 64 and US 276 in Brevard, head north on US 276 for 11.7 miles and turn right onto the gravel Yellow Gap Road/FR 1206. Drive 1.3 miles to a large pullout on the right. The trail starts a few yards up the road.

Hike Description:

The trail crosses the road (go left) and ascends gradually up the hill all the way to the falls. If you wanted, you could continue past the falls and continue to the Buck Springs Trail. There are a couple of other falls in the area, but they’re not worth the effort.
