Overview:
Walker Hollow Falls is right beside the gravel Globe Road out in the middle of nowhere. Unless you’re just crossing waterfalls off your list, this isn’t one you need to see. The stream is already pretty small, and the falls is thin and probably hidden in the middle of summer when the trees are in full bloom.
Directions:
The most direct way to get to Walker Hollow Falls is to take Globe Road south out of Blowing Rock. However, the road is downhill gravel almost the entire way and is full of divots and potholes that don’t make for the smoothest trip. I was driving uphill on Globe Road into Blowing Rock in a 4×4 truck and I was slipping in several spots. I can’t imagine how much more difficult it would be downhill and in a car.
The easiest way (and the more scenic) is to come down Edgemont Road, which begins at US 221 shortly after the highway intersects with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take Edgemont Road to its end in the community of Gragg. Turn left and drive about 2 miles to the falls on the left. There are also several other smaller falls along the way.
