Moravian Falls

Height: 45 feet
Trail Type: Grass
Hike Distance: Roadside View
Difficulty: 0
Beauty: 4

Overview:

I feel like if Moravian Creek, which feeds Moravian Falls, had a bit higher flow, this would be a really beautiful place. However, as long as the water levels are normal, the setting is fairly tranquil. Moravian Falls is about as wide as it is high, but the flow isn’t great enough for the water to cover the entire slope. Instead, it slides smoothly down the right side of the slope. There’s an old mill (wheel still intact) on the left side, so it could make a nice spot to get some good photos. However, it’s not anything you should make a special trip for.

Directions:

From Exit 286A on US 421 in Wilkesboro, head south on NC highway 16. Drive for about 3 miles and turn right onto NC highway 18. Drive another 0.45 miles and turn left onto Falls Road. The falls will be on your left.
